Lallo National High School snatched the win from Aparri School of Arts and Trades, 15-11, 12-15, 15-12 in the 2024-2025 CSPC Sepak Takraw Exhibition Match held at Lallo National High School on December 13, 2025.
With substitute Cañete delivering a killer rollback spike that ended the match, LNHS ultimately took the win in a stunning comeback on the tiebreaker round.
“Nagulat, di namin inexpect.” Duarte said after losing to Lallo.
Moreover, Escat expressed his happiness in winning despite having a few setbacks “Masaya, kahit na medjo nagkalabuan nong mga final rounds.”
LNHS’ starting regu consists of Captain Escat, and players Basug and Sulapas while ASAT’s are Captain Duarte, and players Torda and Agario.
The match started with both regu getting a point landing the ball, however, a mistake from ASATs’ tekong led the regu to kick the ball outside of bounds twice, handing the LNHS a 2-point lead, but was quickly reduced to 1 by a sole kick from Appari.
Keeping their advantage, Escat delivered an astounding straight kill, furthering the gap.
On a crucial part of the match, Basug was substituted by Cañete, which was a great call as it boosted the regu’s offense, ending the first set 15-11.
The second set begins with a bang, the two regu displaying their powerful kicks and receives in a rally which was cut by LNHS, earning the first point. However, LNHS’s false outside calls and miscommunicated receives made points for Appari.
At the 9-8 mark with the LNHS on the lead, Hermosura was substituted in to be the tosser, but was knowingly a bad choice as the tekong made a whopping 3 failed serve with 2 being backtoback, making them unable to catch up as Appari ended the match 12-15, upping the tension for the LNHS players.
The tiebreaker set was heartstopping, subbing in Cañete once again benching Hermosura, both players earning points from each other’s mistakes, with LNHS tekkong netting his serve 3 consecutive times, giving the ASAT huge 4-point gap.
However, LNHS managed to tie the score 11-all with Cañete’s offense, blocking multiple times and getting out-of-bound points, from there, ASAT only managed to get a single point.
The set point was made when Cañete used a header to block landing the ball on the other side, ending the game 15-12, establishing their win.
ASAT’s coach Romero stated that their school is at a disadvantage when it comes to the support for their athletes, implying how their facilty and training are lacking.
The two regu promises to increase their training, hoping to make less mistakes at the Cagayan Provincial Athletic Association (CPAA) where they both qualified at, representing their municipalities.
