“Nueva segovia brilla aun mas.” This place was imprisoned by the hands of the foreign nationals, leaving its people without a choice but to let go of the land they’ve once owned. And to surrender their beloved home, just because they have less power. In this situation, would they be able to find the light for them to shine brighter? Or would they stay in the dark and wait for the light to fade?
Ciudad Nueva Segovia, also known as “Lal-lo” in the present time, was colonized by the Spaniards a long time ago. It was the fourth discovered cities in the Philippines and the first found place in the province of Cagayan. Lal-lo is known for its historical themed places, the reason why it was governed as the “Former Capital in the Province of Cagayan.” Sadly, Vigan City is now the Capital of the province. But that doesn’t make the light of Lal-lo fade. Just like what they say, “Lal-lo shines even brighter.” They are working on upgrading the place to make it a ‘city’ because of its historic origin and the places of attractions it has to offer.
According to the Vice Mayor of Lal-lo, Vice Mayor Maria Olivia Pascual, “Gustong gusto naming ibalik ang pagiging city ng Lal-lo.” It is to make the place be well known and to promote the tradition and culture of the place, such as its tourist attractions and the services Lal-lo has to offer. Lal-lo has maintained its light up to this time making its people say that the place is indeed deserving to be governed as a city. The light did not fade hence;it shines even brighter.
Like a song from the famous disney movie entitled ‘Tangled’,“Make the clock reverse, bring back what once was mine.”Lal-lo is trying to bring back the title, they once owned.
